Some things are to precious to own
you can own property
gold, jewels and other things
they are precious
controlling them gives you power
over others over things rich
some things are far more valuable
Their loss of these is too severe
do not try to secure these
lest you succeed
for in success are the seeds
disaster, despair, sadness
and for you perhaps anger
for if you get one of these
and afterwards lose them
the joy of life is in danger
so I will not write you tonight
I will not reach out to you
there will be no poem waiting
when the sun wakes you
for the most precious thing
that anyone can ever lose
is known to us as love
