broke again chapter 3

Being young and broke is much better than being old and broke.  That's something you can take to the bank and I would know because I have made deposits on both sides of the time continuum.  As a matter of historic record, on average, the younger you are the more fun being broke can be.  As you get older, it's just a nuisance.
I'd like to put a story to this, like words to music.  The music being the philosophy of poverty, the story being the words.  The best story is the actual story of being broke again.  How in such a case am I to protect the innocent and the guilty.  For when you look at the world through the eyes of poverty, you can see the goodness in both.  Only rich people condemn the guilty, and also those who aspire to richness, and, of course, those who just want to do what they have been told is right by those who are rich.
Generally the more broke you are, the more blurred the lines between right and wrong.  Perhaps right now I couldn't be convicted of any crime of intent, because everything is too blurred.
And why is it so damned hard to sleep when you're busted.  2am and wide awake for what?  When you have plenty of cash, you wake up at 2:00 and you're all ready to get laid.  But when you're broke, you really just want to sleep, but you can't.  The streets, the night belong to the truly broken, the rich only live in the lights.
When you're young being broke makes you creative.  When I was young and broke my idea was to figure out how to do things that allowed me to survive being broke or, in my case, the end of the world which poverty made not only a lot more likely, but a lot more likely.  When the zombie apocalypse comes, the brok will give a sigh of relief as they run for the hills.  The rich will just be running.
You might wonder what skills would be helpful at the end of the world and I can only lay out for you the ones that I had.  For example, the ability to fix internal combustion engines, a basic knowledge of chemistry (also helpful in dealing with theories of fundamental physics), the ability to use various things that are considered dangerous, physical condition, how to start a fire and why you'd want to, how to guide yourself by the stars and how to love as if the sun was not going to rise in the morning, which, after all, won't happen when the world ends.
When you get old and broke, it seems like the end of the world; but all those skills don't help you not be broke, but they can come in handy if you need to change a tire.
