would we grow old listening
to a prairie home companion
or do we change our ears to wit
and try to stay young together
together is the key word
and would should be will
because i cannot imagine
listening to anything apart
how do we join in the future
when there is so much past
when the barriers between
have been built so strong
the answer lies is who we are
and who we are not
we are not separate people
we are one person separated
the walls we see before us
are really doorways
for when we're together
they fade like mirages
opening when we touch
the separation vanished
replaced by a unity
of spirit, value and identity
