Sometimes it is easier
to bear fear alone
cast into a scary place
with no one else
to love or worry over
danger can then be
frightening and enabling
but it isn't a bad thing
no matter how brave
to know that despite
your independence
that you are loved
and respected by others
that if prayer means anything
in a pre-ordained universe
others pray for your safety
even knowing none of us
are safe for forever
there is no place in life
for a permanent harbor
we must all set sail
knowing that storms
await our arrival
but sometimes with luck
always there is hope
and the worst storms
are weathered
and the best storms
no matter how frightening
are those I sail with you
