Poverty of the Heart

We are all searching
for a way out
of our poverty of the heart
Someone to understand me
someone that I can understand
is that too much to ask
look at your own life
have you found what your looking for
it can be done
or so i'm told
you want it to be easy
and without sacrifice
a linear progression
from loneliness to love
you don't want to compromise
or accept it from others
but it is totally illusive
perhaps it is an illusion
i still haven't found it
or perhaps i have
maybe more than once
so why don't i have it
