Don't expect the poetry forever
you can't expect poetry or love
to last forever, or can you
does love need fuel
or does it burn
with something ephemeral
is there some invisible fuel
that allows it to burn
even in the absence
of the beautiful lover
and if there is such a fuel
does it require two people
or can it burn forever
if only one person loves
and does the invisible source
eventually burn out
when no new log is added
or can it outlast a lifetime
even outlasting the lovers
and which is worse
to allow the flame to go out
or to feed it with futility
